Two universities protected its all white students’ policy when 2 African students wanted to attend. They started another university for all African Students in 1941.
Segregation in public accommodations ended when Mayor Raymond Tucker passed the Public Accommodations Ordinance in 1961. United States Congress passed 2 important laws after the March on Washington Movement had occurred.
They passed the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and the Voting Rights Act in 1965.
